We are aimless And the target is an empty wall We're out of patience With smiles that cut across our face No complaints But I wish I had more time for my brain I'd like to walk Where the sun doesn't know we're awake We're in spaceships Take a visit to the Pyrenees On paid vacations Send a brochure from the agency No complaints But my girlfriend dug a ditch in my room Walking papers and a hole Straight out from my shoes No complaints But it's harder To believe in the truth So write a message On a billboard And I'll send it to you We feel painless Check the status on the info line In some ways tainted Radiation from the factory No complaints But it's overrated, that's for sure Take a bus back From Little Rock, Arkansas Or Modesto That's where my dog comes from

I had fourteen dollars in my inside pocket And twenty-two more up my sleeve There was cold hard cash lining up my jacket But I did not have a dime when I did leave When I got here I was carrying roses When I had to go, I was only holding dirt Well I walked in here wearing a tuxedo But I left wearing an old t-shirt They say it's hard times, don't I know it I'm sleeping on a bed made of nails Well I used to live way up in the penthouse Now I can't even get a room in the county jail Now that your dollar bills have sprouted wings And I don't think they'll come around next spring Just like birds of prey, they will take what's yours and fly away Now that your dollar bills have sprouted wings Well I came to town on a pile of diamonds Now I'm leaving on a wheelbarrow of dust With IOUs glued to my eyelids Sitting here watching my safe rust Watching all your coins roll down the gutter And all your champagne going down the sink Is there something that you're trying to remember? Or is that string around your finger a wedding ring? Now that your dollar bills have sprouted wings And I don't think they'll come around next spring Just like birds of prey, they will take what's yours and fly away Now that your dollar bills have sprouted wings
3.
I'm coming over, see me down at the station by the lane with my hands in my pocket Jingling a wish coin that I stole from a fountain that was drownin' all the cares in the world When I get older climbing up on the back porch fence just to see the dogs runnin' With a ring and a question and my shivering voice is singing through a crack in the window Na na na na na na I better go it alone Down on the corner, see me standing on a makeshift road with a dust storm comin' In a long black shadow pull a hammer from a coal mine down where your daddy was workin' Comb my hair back, strike a match on the bathroom wall where my number is written Driving on the sidewalk lookin' backwards and the sky is burning in the rearview mirror Na na na na na I better go it alone I'm coming over see you down at the station by the lane with my hands in my pocket Jingling a wish coin that I stole from a fountain that was drownin' all the cares in the world When I get older climbing up on the back fence warnin' the other dogs that I'm comin' In a ring and a question dime a dozen in a voice that was singing underneath my window Na na na na na na I better go it alone
4.
I really think I better get a hold of myself Don't wanna let the night get ahead of myself Whisperin' hello through a smoke ring smile She doesn't know what happens when she's around I think I'm in love But it makes me kinda nervous to say so I think I'm in love But it makes me kinda nervous to say so Doodododododooodoo Probably lay my head on a wooden floor Tell her I was tired from working the store Counting all the cash from an old shoebox Saving up to buy her something she wants I think I'm in love But it makes me kinda nervous to say so I think I'm in love But it makes me kinda nervous to say so What if it's wrong? What if it's wrong To pray in vain? What does it mean To fake your death And wake up tainted? Take a little picture in a photobooth Keep it in a locket and I think of you Both of our pictures, face to face Take off your necklace and throw it away I think I'm in love But it makes me kinda nervous to say so I think I'm in love But it makes me kinda nervous to say so Really think I better get a hold of myself Don't wanna let the night get ahead of myself Whisperin' hello through a smoke ring smile She doesn't know what happens when she's around I think I'm in love Think I'm in love Think I'm in love Think I'm in love Think I'm in love Think I'm in love Think I'm in love Think I'm in love

You better save yourself From something you can't see Follow it where it goes Follow it back to me, I'll keep it here Don't let it go Don't let it go Don't let it go Don't let it go away You don't have to let it go away These are some faults we found Hollowed out from the years Don't let them wear you out Don't let them turn your mind inside out Don't let it go Don't let it go away Don't let it go Don't let it go away You don't have to let it go away In the crossfire there's a story And how it ends, I do not know Don't let it go Don't let it go away Don't let it go Don't let it go away Don't you see how far it's gone away? Don't you see how far it's gone away? Don't you see how far it's gone away? Don't you see how far it's gone away? You don't have to let it go away

A town of disrespect, the trains are wrecked The night is younger than us Nowhere is anywhere else, you keep to yourself Stirring the dregs where I have laid The exit signs are flashing Dead ends they won't come to life anymore I pledge the rest, I should have guessed Your love was hanging by threads Tongues tied under the moon My love is a room of broken bottles and tangled webs The misers wind their minds like clocks that grind their gears on and on And if it's meant, some accident, some coincidence Crumbs fall out of the sky when you wander by The dust clouds blow when nobody's home Oh won't you lay my bags upon the funeral fire and sing it again? Oh won't you lay my bags upon the funeral fire and sing it again?

I hate to do this, but you're a pain in the neck. I thought you knew this, you're handing me a canceled check. You're so helpless. Your girlfriends think you're a saint. I'll give you a quarter. I'll keep my judgments to myself. And I get caught up in the moonlight. Reaching out for a rotten egg, I don't want to beg. It's crystal clear, your time is nearly gone. Count your blessings and do the things that you should. All the has-beens have never had it so good. Stormy weather, the kids are making a racket. In the wilderness, the wild lives are so mild. And I get caught up in the moonlight. Reaching out for a rotten egg, I don't want to beg. It's crystal clear, your time is nearly gone. And I get caught up in the moonlight. Reaching out for a rotten egg, I don't want to beg. It's crystal clear, your time is nearly gone.

Girl (Beck) 03:26
I saw her, yea I saw her With her black tongue tied round the roses A fist pounding on a vending machine Toy diamond ring stuck on her finger With a noose she could hang from the sun And put it out with the dark sunglasses Walking crooked down the beach She spits on the sand Where their bones are bleaching And I know I'm gonna steal her eye She doesn't even know what's wrong And I know I'm gonna make her die Take her where her soul belongs Know I'm gonna steal her eye Nothing that I wouldn't try Hey my sun-eyed girl Hey my sun-eyed girl My sun-eyed girl Hey my sun-eyed girl I saw her, yea I saw her With her hands tied back Her rags are burnin' Crawling out from a landfilled life Scrawling her name up on the ceiling Throw a coin in the fountain of dust White noise, her ears are ringing Got a ticket for my midnight hanging Throw a bullet from a freight train leaving And I know I'm gonna steal her eye She doesn't even know it's wrong And I know I'm gonna make her die Take her where her soul belongs Know I'm gonna steal her eye Nothing that I wouldn't try Hey my sun-eyed girl Hey my sun-eyed girl My sun-eyed girl Hey my sun-eyed girl

I feel uptight when I walk in the city I feel so cold when I'm at home Feels like everything's starting to hit me I lost my bearings ten minutes ago Modern guilt, I'm stranded with nothing Modern guilt, I'm under lock and key Misapprehension turning into convention Don't know what I've done But I feel ashamed Standing outside the glass on the sidewalk These people talk about impossible things And I'm falling out of the conversation And I'm a pawn piece in a human shield Modern guilt is all in our hands Modern guilt won't get me to bed Say what you will, smoke your last cigarette Don't know what I've done But I feel afraid Da da da Da da da Da da da Da da da

Go to sleep, we're so tired now All together in a snakepit of souls New days, throw your chains away Try to hang your hopes on the wind Little one, just a little way today All we need is waiting Night rise like the evening prize In a turnstile, backwards we fly Cold bones, tied together by Black ropes we pulled from a swing Little one, just a little way today All our dreams are waking Can't stand on crooked legs I'm cross-eyed to the wall In these harbor lights Satellites explode Drown drown, sailors run aground In a sea-change, nothing is safe Strange waves push us every way In a stolen boat, we'll float away Little one, just a little way today All we need is waiting Little one, just a little way today All our dreams are waking Little one, hold on, hold on All our dreams are waking
11.
Waking light, your profile in shadow Raise yourself to the morning alone Night is gone, long way of turning You've waited long enough to know When the memory leaves you Somewhere you can't make it home When the morning comes to meet you Lay me down in waking light No one sees you here, roots are all covered There's such a length to go and how much can you show? Day is gone on a landslide a-reeling I've seen your lamplight burning low When the memory leaves you Somewhere you can't make it home When the morning comes to meet you Rest your eyes in waking light When the memory leaves you Somewhere you can't make it home When the morning comes to meet you Fill your eyes with waking light
12.
I put on a fake smile And start the evening show The public is laughing I guess by now they know So climb from your high horse And pull this freak show down Dear Madam Barnum I resign as clown You said I was the master of all I surveyed But now I'm sweeping up The last in line in your circus parade Children are clapping As I fall to the floor My heart torn and broken And they just scream for more If I'm not the sole fool Who pulls his trousers down Then dear Madam Barnum I resign as clown You tread the high wire Between truth and lies Your safety net just walked out Much to your surprise Strike up the band love And let the show begin For this is the last time I'm painting on a grin If I'm not the sole fool Who pulls his trousers down Then dear Madam Barnum I resign as clown I resign as clown I resign as clown
13.
Well you didn't wake up this morning 'cause you didn't go to bed You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red The calendar on your wall was ticking the days off You've been reading some old letters You smile and think how much you've changed All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days You pull back the curtain And the sun burns into your eyes You watch a plane flying Across a clear blue sky This is the day, your life will surely change This is the day, when things fall into place You could have done anything, if you wanted And all your friends and family think that you're lucky But the side of you they'll never see Is when you're left alone with your memories That hold your life together, like glue
14.
I read the news today, oh boy About a lucky man who made the grade And though the news was rather sad Well, I just had to laugh I saw the photograph He blew his mind out in a car; He didn't notice that the lights had changed A crowd of people stood and stared They'd seen his face before Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords I saw a film today, oh boy; The English army had just won the war A crowd of people turned away But I just had to look Having read the book I'd love to turn you on Woke up, fell out of bed Dragged a comb across my head Found my way downstairs and drank a cup And looking up, I noticed I was late Found my coat and grabbed my hat Made the bus in seconds flat Found my way upstairs and had a smoke And somebody spoke and I went into a dream Ah I read the news today, oh boy Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire And though the holes were rather small They had to count them all Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall I'd love to turn you on
15.
So we were standing, like the last rock band on the planet Of vapor trails and alpine skies It's all green fields, yellow flowers, and brown liquor Oh brown liquor Bug's got a job in the Catskills Met some fraulein along the way Took her home, but then she had an episode Though it did disturb him, he was strangely compelled Seven days when I've been waiting Seven days and seven nights Seven days when I've been dreaming Of the real thing Of the real thing So we were standing around, fading in and out of fashion While Amerikids dug Eurobeats Well we know all of the doormen and other bartendresses And there ain't nothing that you got that we don't need Did I say that right? Seven days when I've been waiting Seven days and seven nights Seven days when I've been dreaming Of the real thing Of the real thing Seven days when I've been waiting Seven days and seven nights Seven days when I've been dreaming Of the real thing Of the real thing Seven days when I've been waiting Seven days and seven nights Seven days when I've been dreaming Of the real thing Of the real thing Of the real thing Of the real thing Of the real thing Of the real thing
16.
One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces

Now I'm not feeding off you I will rearrange your scales If I can and I can March into the ocean march into the sea I had a hat I put it down and it sunk reached down Yanked it up slapped it on my head All the people gather Fly to carry each his burden We are young despite the years we are concern We are hope despite the times All of the sudden these days Happy throngs take this joy wherever wherever I wish to meet each one of you And you, me, you, if I can and I can We have many things in common, name three (three, three, three) I had a hat and it sunk, reached down, Yanked it up, slapped it on my head All the people gather Fly to carry each his burden We are young despite the years we are concern We are hope despite the times All of the sudden, these days Happy throngs, take this joy wherever, wherever you go. Now I'm not feeding off you I will rearrange your scales If I can and I can I wish to eat each one of you and you, me, you I had a hat and it sunk, reached down, Yanked it up, slapped it on my head All the people gather Fly to carry each his burden We are young despite the years we are concern We are hope despite the times All of the sudden, these days Happy throngs, take this joy wherever, wherever you Carry each his burden We are young despite the years we are concern We are hope despite the times All of the sudden, these days Happy throngs, take this joy wherever, wherever you go. (Take away the scattered bones of my meal)

I can't sleep tonight Everybody saying everything's alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all these lights Sunny days Where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning I can't stand myself I'm being held up by an invisible man Still life on a shelf when I got my mind on something else Sunny days Where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh, where did the blue skies go? And why is it raining so? It's so cold I can't sleep tonight Everybody's saying everything's all right Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of the lights Sunny days Where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh, where did the blue skies go? And why is it raining so? It's so cold Why does it always rain on me? Why does it always rain on....

I've took a picture that I'll have to send People here are friendly and content People here are colorful and bright The flowers often bloom at night Amanita is the name The flowers cover everything The flowers cover everything There's something here I find hard to ignore There's something that I've never seen before Amanita is the name, they cover over everything The flowers cover everything They cover over everything (Amanita is the name) The flowers cover everything Don't look into the sky Don't look into the sky The flowers cover everything They cover over everything The flowers cover everything The flowers cover everything They cover over everything The flowers cover everything There's something that I've never seen before The flowers often bloom at night Amanita is the name, they cover over everything

This year for Christmas There's something I'd really like So if you're up there somewhere Santa Please don't bring me another bike I don't need any ugly sweaters And I don't play much basketball But there's something kinda special That I want most of all... I want an alien for Christmas Bring me an alien this year I want a little green guy About three feet high With seventeen eyes Who knows how to fly I want an alien for Christmas this year He can live in the bath tub So don't worry about a thing And I'll take him out for walks When it gets nicer in the Spring I'll always keep him company He'll never be alone And we can hang around the house all day And watch the Twilight Zone I want an alien for Christmas Bring me an alien this year I want a little green guy About three feet high With seventeen eyes Who knows how to fly I want an alien for Christmas this year I want an alien for Christmas Bring me an alien this year I want a little green guy About three feet high With seventeen eyes And knows how to fly I want an alien for Christmas this year I want an alien for Christmas this year

I can't look at the rocket launch The trophy wives of the astronauts And i won't listen to their words 'cause i like birds I don't care for walking downtown Crazy auto-car gonna mow me down Look at all the people like cows in a herd Well, i like birds If you're small and on a search I've got a feeder for you to perch on I can't stand in line at the store The mean little people are such a bore But it's alright if you act like a turd 'cause i like birds If you're small and on a search I've got a feeder for you to perch on

I bought myself a liarbird He came with free drinks just to blur The lies falling out like rain On an average English summer's afternoon I bought myself a new notebook Sharpened my guitar and went to look If this biz was just as bongo as the liarbird made out All he would say Is "I can make you famous" All he would say All he would say "Just like a household name" is All he would say Methinks world is for you Made of what you believe If it's false or if it's true You can read it in your bible Or on the back of this record sleeve I bought myself a liarbird Things got more and more absurd It changed to a cuckoo And expanded filling up with all I gave I bought myself a big mistake He grew too greedy, bough will break And then we will find that liarbirds Are really flightless on their own All he would say Is "I can make you famous" All he would say All he would say ``Just like a household name'' is All he would say Methinks world is for you There's no handing it back If it's false or it's true You can read it in your prayer book Or on the side of a cornflake pack I gave away a liarbird A couple less drinks and now I've heard The truth shining out like sun On an average English winter's afternoon

There's a thin line between being well and being ill That's what Julia told me and I know she always will I'm falling now, I'm falling There's a thin line between what you are and what you aren't I'm afraid of loving you and you're afraid I can't I'm falling now, I'm falling Aah I'm falling now, you're calling Aah Take it away Take it away, yeah Take it away, yeah There's a thin line between what you do and what you should Every time I cross it I just feel insanely good I'm falling now, you're calling Aah Take it away Take it away, yeah Take it away, yeah There's a thin line between what is not and what is Let me close one eye and I can focus on you, Miss I'm falling now, I'm falling Aah I'm falling now, you're calling Aah Take it away Take it away, yeah Take it away, yeah Take it away, yeah Me of America

about

My ninth collection of Theme Music collaborations dating from June 2017 through September 2017. My Facebook group, Theme Music, had a theme where you pick an artist and cover any song(s) by said artist. I chose Beck. A couple years ago when this theme first showed up, I naturally chose R.E.M. So, if you're wondering why there's so many Beck song, or why I chose to call my album I hope you like Beck, that's why. Cover photography by Moira Wylie, taken at a beach just north of Port Huron, MI. In all honesty, I make these little collections for myself. Typing in all the liner notes, lyrics, credits and choosing artwork for each song, as well as links to the YouTube videos is just me being meticulous. I'm so thankful for all the hard work that my musical friends do for me, I can't even begin to know where to start.
