Theme: BANDS & BRANDS

Back in March of 2012, I met Chris Henderson and David Wallis in order to form an R.E.M. tribute band that came to be known as Rapid Eye Movement. Finding a lead vocalist was a challenge, and in the early days, we started recording demos in December of 2012 but only got as far as tracking drums for 8 or 10 songs. I’m using Dave’s drums from those demos and adding new guitars, courtesy of Chris Henderson, and I did the vocals, bass, shaker, tambourine, video and mix. Rather than add a sampled vibraslap to the mix, I asked Zoenda to contribute a track without even telling her what song it was for. We did Binky the Doormat for the same theme and that took a good 12 days to get right. This was we started on Friday afternoon and was ready 2 days later.

lyrics

I've got my spine, I've got my orange crush
(Collar me, don't collar me)
I've got my spine, I've got my orange crush
(We are agents of the free)
I've had my fun and now it's time
To serve your conscience overseas (over me, not over me)
Coming in fast, over me
