If I could hold hold out for now With these ice caps melting down With the transistor sound And my Chevrolet terraplane Going around around around Come on little gamma ray Standing in a hurricane Your brains are bored Like a refugee From a house that's burning And the heat wave's calling your name She's got on a cactus crown With a dot dot dot on her brow And she speaks inside a cloud With her countenance turning around It hit me like a gamma ray Standing in a hurricane And I'm pulling out thorns Smokestack lightning out my window I want to know what I've lost today Come a little gamma ray Standing in a hurricane When your body's bored Like a refugee From a house that's burning And the backwaters calling your name

"As I raise my head to broadcast my objection As your latest triumph draws the final straw Who died and lifted you up to perfection? And what silenced me is written into law. I can't believe where circumstance has thrown me And I turn my head away If I look I'm not sure that I could face you. Not again, not today, not today. If hatred makes a play on me tomorrow And forgiveness takes a back seat to revenge There's a hurt down deep that has not been corrected There's a voice in me that says you will not win. And if I ignore the voice inside, Raise a half glass to my home. But it's there that I am most afraid, And forgetting doesn't hold. It doesn't hold. Now I don't believe and I never did That two wrongs make a right. If the world were filled with the likes of you Then I'm putting up a fight. Putting up a fight. Putting up a fight. Make it right. Make it right. Now love cannot be called into question. Forgiveness is the only hope I hold. And love, love will be my strongest weapon. I do believe that I am not alone. For this fear will not destroy me. And the tears that have been shed It's knowing now where I am weakest And the voice in my head. In my head. Then I raise my voice up higher And I look you in the eye And I offer love with one condition. With conviction, tell me why. Tell me why. Tell me why. Look me in the eye. Tell me why."

You know where I come from You know what I feel You're Yul Brenner Westworld Reporting from the field. I threw it into reverse, Made a motion to repeal. You kicked my legs from under me, And tried to take the wheel. I told you I wanted to be wrong, But everyone is humming a song That I don't understand. Now I know that the sun has shined on my side of the street. The basket of America, the weevils and the wheat. The milk and honeyed congregation, scrubbed and apple-cheeked Salute Apollo 13 from the rattle jewelry seats. Mythology's seductive and it turned a trick on me That I have just begun to understand. I told you I wanted to be wrong, But everyone is humming a song That I don't understand. The rodeo is staged, gold circle goat-ropers and clowns. A rumble in the third act, tie 'em up and burn 'em down. We're armed to the teeth, born a little breech; Blue-plate special analysts, cells and SUV's We can't approach the Allies 'cause they seem a little peeved And speak a language we don't understand. I told you I wanted to be wrong But everyone is humming a song That I don't understand. (Prop up The Omega Man, we're primed for victory, God gave us the upper hand, there's honor among thieves. Temper it with arrogance, a dash of sad conceit. The top's down on the T-Bird, we're the children of the free) Storm into the boardroom of the conquering elite. Did you recognize the madman who is shouting in the streets? Destroy the things that I don't understand Destroy the things that I don't understand.

The moon is a rock on a mountain The lunatics have taken over the asylum Waiting on the rapture Singing we’re here to keep your prices down Feed you to the hounds To the Daily Mail, Together Together You made a pig’s ear, you made a mistake Paid off security and got through the gate You got away with it but we lie in wait Where’s the truth? What’s the use? I’m hanging around lost and found And when you’re here, innocent Fat chance, no plan No regard for human life Keep trying, you’re not right You’re fast to lose, you will lose You jumped the queue, go back again President for life, lord of all The flies in the sky, the beasts of the earth The fish in the sea, you’ve lost command

The battle's been lost, the war is not won An addled republic, a bitter refund The business first flat earthers licking their wounds The verdict is dire, the country's in ruins Providence blinked, facing the sun Where are we left to carry on Until the day is done Until the day is done As we've written our stories to entertain These notions of glory and bull market gain The tele-prompt flutters, the power surge brings An easy speed message falls into routine Providence blinked, facing the sun Where are we left to carry on Until the day is done Until the day is done A voice whispers "Son, The blessed vision comes." What have I done What have I done So hold tight your babies and your guns Forgive us our trespasses, father and son Until the day is done Until the day is done Until the day is done Until the day is done

Late again today, he'd be in trouble though he'd say he was sorry, he'd have to hurry out to the bus Horace was so sad, he'd never had a girl that he could care for, and if he was late once more, he'd be out. uh oh. Don't be afraid, just knock on the door, Well he just stood there mumblin and fumblin' Then a voice from above said- Horace wimp, this is your life, Go out and find yourself a wife, Make a stand and be a man, And you will have a great life plan Horace met a girl, she was small and she was very pretty, he thought he was in love, he was afraid Asks her for a date, the café dowm the street tomorrow evening, his head was reeling, when she said Yes, O K Don't be afraid, just knock on the door, Well he just stood there mumblin' and fumblin' Then a voice from above said- Horace wimp, this is your life, Go out and find yourself a wife, Make a stand and be a man, And you will have a great life plan Horace, this is it, he asks the girl if maybe they could marry, when she says gladly, Horace cries. Boo hoo. Everybody's at the church, when Horace rushes in and says Now here comes my wife, for the rest of my life, and she did Don't be afraid, just knock on the door, Well he just stood there mumblin and fumblin' Then a voice from above said- Horace wimp, this is your life, Go out and find yourself a wife, Make a stand and be a man, And you will have a great life plan

Da da da da... I just found me a bottle of blues Some strange comfort for a soul to soothe Ain't it hard, ain't it hard to want somebody Who doesn't want you? And I've been waiting for a year or a day Some strange weather must be blowing my way 'Cause I got no mind to go or to stay Or be left behind Holding hands with an impotent dream In a brothel of fake energy Put a nickel in a graveyard machine I get higher and lower I get higher and lower Like a tired soldier with nothing to shoot And nowhere to lose this bottle of blues Eagles drone and pose alone Like black balloons all banged and blown On a backwards river The infidels shiver in the stench of belief And tell my momma I'm a hundred years late I'm over the rails and out of the race The crippled psalms of an age that won't thaw Are ringing in my ears Holding hands with an impotent dream In a brothel of fake energy Put a nickel in a graveyard machine I get higher and lower I get higher and lower Like a tired soldier with nothing to shoot And nowhere to lose this bottle of blues There's nothing that I won't play Uh huh, yea what? Well I just found me a bottle of blues Some strange comfort for a soul to soothe Ain't it hard, ain't it hard to want somebody Who doesn't want you? Holding hands with an impotent dream In a brothel of fake energy Put a nickel in a graveyard machine I get higher and lower I get higher and lower Like a tired solder with nothing to shoot And nowhere to lose this bottle of blues Bottle of blues All my folks in the back row

Well i went walking Out yesterday A man was carrying a sign that says "the world is gonna end tomorrow" Hey buddy, got a nickel i can borrow? This rotten world's gonna chew you up Swallow you whole and then spit you back out The sooner you recognize this simple fact Then this rotten world gives you what you lack Ol' miss headtrip She's gettin' down You don't see her much walking 'round town Well you could say that she needs a little lovin' Looking for a light with her head in the oven This rotten world's gonna chew you up Swallow you whole and then spit you back out The sooner you recognize this simple fact Then this rotten world gives you what you lack Miss kovaleva She's lookin' good Walkin' her ass through the neighborhood She knows something that you don't know Something she learned about a long time ago This rotten world's gonna chew you up Swallow you whole and then spit you back out The sooner you recognize this simple fact Then this rotten world gives you what you lack This rotten world's gonna chew you up Swallow you whole and then spit you back out

I got some so-called friends They’ll smile right to my face But, when my back is turned They’d like to stick to me Yes, they would Oh no, no Oh no no There’s only one thing I need to know Whose side are you on? I fly into Detroit Metro My heart goes boom boom boom I know that customs man He’s going to take me To that little room Oh no, no Oh no, no There’s only one thing I need to know Whose side are you on? Whose side are you on? I got the paranoia blues From knockin’ around in Detroit city Where they roll you for a nickel And they stick you for the extra dime Anyway you choose You’re bound to lose in Detroit city Oh, I just got out in the nick of time Well, I just got out in the nick of time Once I was down in Hazel Park I was eating some Loui's deep dish I happened to turn around And when I looked I see My pizza’s gone Oh no, no Oh no, no There’s only one thing I need to know Whose side are you on? Whose side are you on? Well, there’s only one thing I need to know Whose side, whose side, whose side?

Say It (XTC) 02:41
Open up your heart Say the things you want to say Maybe a delicate subject But say it anyway Say it very soon When you take your tea and toast Don't leave the house without saying Whose toast you love the most 'Cause there's some Who wished they had said it At the cemetery gates Don't be the one to heave a sigh Say it now, don't wait! (Go on say it) Say it now (Go on say it now) Say it anywhere Even on a crowded train The eight thirty one to Euston Won't be the same again Say it to the ones Who brush your collar everyday And stick around in December As they did in May 'Cause there's some Who wished they had said it At the cemetery gates But we'll never make that mistake Let's say it anyplace Let's say it face to face Say it for goodness sake ...Now

Want some whiskey in your water? Sugar in your tea? What's all these crazy questions they're askin' me? This is the craziest party that could ever be Don't turn on the lights 'cause I don't wanna see Mama told me not to come Mama told me not to come "That ain't the way to have fun, no" Open up the window, let some air into this room I think I'm almost chokin' from the smell of stale perfume And that cigarette you're smokin' 'bout scare me half to death Open up the window, sucker, let me catch my breath Mama told me not to come Mama told me not to come "That ain't the way to have fun, son" "That ain't the way to have fun, son" The radio is blastin', someone's knockin' at the door I'm lookin' at my girlfriend - she's passed out on the floor I seen so many things I ain't never seen before Don't know what it is - I don't wanna see no more Mama told me not to come Mama told me not to come She said, "That ain't the way to have fun, son" "That ain't the way to have fun, no" "That ain't the way to have fun, no" "That ain't the way to have fun, son" "That ain't the way to have fun, no" "That ain't the way to have fun, son" "That ain't the way to have fun, no" "That ain't the way to have fun, son" "That ain't the way to have fun, no" "That ain't the way to have fun, son"

I used to ring you And put down the phone Once wore a hole in your dress Even tried voodoo Right outside your home But these days I just couldn't care less She doesn't exist anymore She doesn't exist anymore I let her go like the fool that I was Thought I'd get over her soon I smell her perfume When my eyes are closed And I see her face in the moon But she doesn't exist anymore She doesn't exist anymore I tell myself it would be different now I wouldn't treat her that way I wouldn't be me if she wasn't her And it's far too late anyway And she doesn't exist anymore (La la la lala) She doesn't exist anymore (La la lala la la) (La la la lala) Only inside you the ghost of a love That is wordless and painful and old There's no one else In the whole outside world That matches to her in your soul But she doesn't exist anymore (La la la lala) She doesn't exist anymore (La la lala la la) (La la la lala) She doesn't exist anymore (La la la lala) She doesn't exist anymore (La la lala la la) (La la la lala)

And she was lying in the grass And she could hear the highway breathing And she could see a nearby factory She's making sure she is not dreaming See the lights of a neighbor's house Now she's starting to rise Take a minute to concentrate And she opens up her eyes The world was moving and she was right there with it (and she was) The world was moving she was floating above it (and she was) and she was And she was drifting through the backyard And she was taking off her dress And she was moving very slowly Rising up above the earth Moving into the universe Drifting this way and that Not touching ground at all Up above the yard [CHORUS] She was glad about it... no doubt about it She isn't sure where she's gone No time to think about what to tell them No time to think about what she's done And she was And she was looking at herself And things were looking like a movie She had a pleasant elevation She's moving out in all directions [CHORUS] Joining the world of missing persons (and she was) Missing enough to feel alright (and she was)

They sentenced me to twenty years of boredom For trying to change the system from within I'm coming now, I'm coming to reward them First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin I'm guided by a signal in the heavens I'm guided by this birthmark on my skin I'm guided by the beauty of our weapons First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin I'd really like to live beside you, baby I love your body and your spirit and your clothes But you see that line there moving through the station? I told you, I told you, told you, I was one of those Ah you loved me as a loser, but now you're worried that I just might win You know the way to stop me, but you don't have the discipline How many nights I prayed for this, to let my work begin First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin I don't like your fashion business mister And I don't like these drugs that keep you thin I don't like what happened to my sister First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin I'd really like to live beside you, baby I love your body and your spirit and your clothes But you see that line there moving through the station? I told you, I told you, told you, I was one of those Did I thank you for those items that you sent me The monkey and the plywood violin I practiced every night, now I'm ready First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin Ah remember me, I used to live for music Remember me, I brought your groceries in Well it's Father's Day and everybody's wounded First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

Please could you stop the noise I'm trying to get some rest From all the unborn chicken voices in my head What's that? What's that? When I am king, you will be first against the wall With your opinion which is of no consequence at all What's that? What's that? Ambition makes you look pretty ugly Kicking, squealing Gucci little piggy You don't remember You don't remember Why don't you remember my name? Off with his head, man Off with his head, man Why don't you remember my name? I guess he does Rain down, rain down Come on rain down on me From a great height From a great height, height Rain down, rain down Come on, rain down on me From a great height From a great height Rain down, rain down (that's it, sir, you're leaving, the crackle of pigskin) Come on rain down on me (the dust and the screaming, the yuppies networking) From a great height (the panic, the vomit, the panic, the vomit) God loves his childrean God loves his children, yeah

One day you're going to have to face a deep dark truthful mirror And it's going to tell you things that I still love you too much to say The sky was just a purple bruise, the ground was iron And you fell all around the town until you looked the same (Chorus:) The same eyes, the same lips The same lie from your tongue trips Deep dark, deep dark truthful mirror Deep dark, deep dark truthful mirror Now the flagstone streets where the newspaper shouts Ring to the boots of roustabouts And you're never in any doubt, there's something happening somewhere You chase down the road 'til your fingers bleed on a fiberglass tumbleweed You can blow around the town, but it all shuts down the same (Repeat Chorus) So you bay for the boy in the tiger-skin trunks They set him up, set him up on the stool He falls down, he falls down like a drunk And you drink till you drool Well, it's his story you'll flatter You'll stretch him out like a saint But the canvas that he splattered Will be the picture that you never paint Deep dark, deep dark truthful mirror Deep dark, deep dark truthful mirror A stripping puppet on a liquid stick gets into it pretty thick A butterfly drinks a turtle's tears, but how do you know he really needs it? 'Cos a butterfly feeds on a dead monkey's hand Jesus wept, he felt abandoned You're spellbound baby, there's no doubting that Did you ever see a stare like a Persian cat? (Repeat Chorus) Deep dark, deep dark truthful mirror

Oh where should I start? She’s sensitive and smart That’s not my favourite part and Oh you won’t forget The beautiful brunette With eyes of chocolate And I don’t know what you’re used to But I can’t go back I refuse to Oh and she loves me now She’s trying to show me how But my mind is never open I hope it works out well Some days it can be hell But it’s a hell I have a hope in And I don’t know what that has to do with She’s someone to hear Husker Du with And someone to wait in the queues with And someone to hate all things new with She’s someone to watch Gremlins 2 with And someone to not watch The View with And someone to laugh in the pew with And someone I can be true with

about

My eighth collection of Theme Music collaborations dating from January 2017 through June 2017. A new transition for me. In January, I started a new job, and after almost 6 months, it's my favorite. My wife and I also moved to a bigger house (despite not being able to afford the added expense, but I didn't have a choice about it), and it's presented a whole wealth of new video opportunities, as it's considerably larger. I now have my recording studio setup in the upstairs of a house with no air conditioning, so I sometimes have to wait until nightfall for the temperature to drop enough to brave the heat. I haven't spent much energy this year writing many originals so far, or at least, none that I've finished. I have a handful of instrumentals, but I need to find my own way of moving forward. The cover photograph was from the old movie theater in the long abandoned Northville Psychiatric Hospital.
